I was thinking calcite, too. We commonly find it associated with petrified wood, and also marine fossils/shells.

I am not buying calcite. The prisms are triangular in cross section. Calcite has hexagonal growth system. I guessing dolomite but even that is not right. Here is a better closeup of the crystals from roy's image. On the left is a couple of crystals that have a very clean termination and a shadows that clearly show a trigonal growth habit.

Holy cow!!! Nice to have friends in rocky places. Have you ever seen the mud saw up at the rock shop in Vantage? Maybe you could borrow it for a few years. Larry

calcite is limestone. It reacts with acid and is soft. Like a Mohs 3-3.5 or so. I cannot say for sure if dolomite is different. I can come to Utah Oregon and help you build a drag saw. Between the two of us it would take a few days max. But............ It'll cost you that giant sage-amy boulder!

Damn the luck I probably would've had a heart attack on the spot. I've actually gone to quarries around here asking about 'out of the ordinary' finds and of course i'm crazy now.
