Helen: What you've said is again disingenuous. USPS borrows money t uses as subsidies from the Federal Financing bank FFB and that money is taxpayer money. It's just another shell game with taxpayer money And yes, if a business plan constantly loses money, it needs to be fixed or go under. Some private enterprise will fill the gap with non union workers and probably actually make a profit....Mel

I would be willing to pay a few bucks more for a MFRB to keep the USPS afloat. They would still be way cheaper than UPS and a hell of a lot more convenient, here anyway. The people here are great people and because of the size of the town the people are also a part of it outside the PO. I do not see anyone taking over 160 billion pieces without a HUGE amount of problems. I give away a lot of boxes of rocks if the people will pay the postage. If I have to go to UPS I will probably have to pay half the postage. Wellll, it is difficult to give away expensive rocks. lol Jim Sorry Jim, that word just slipped out of my fingers today. I will give my keyboard a stern talking to. On the serious side I will refrain from the use of vulgarity from now on.

I thought we all decided that we would not use the f bomb. It is not necessary to use it to get your point across. dos centavos mios Jim Jim, I had never agreed to such. I respect you and wish no ill will between us. I have edited the offending post. Please accept a small apology. This time I did not use it "to get my point across". I used it to be funny. Based on another thread and some PM's; others consider that my pointing out the concept of effing the dictionary in an effort to try to redefine the argument and therefore win as humorous indeed. Thanks JIm. Hope your long weekend was good.

I do not want to get on your bad side because I think you are one of the good guys. The reason for not using the fbomb is because there are kids using this forum. Mark made the rule and a whole bunch of people agreed though you probably missed that thread. I think it is just a common courtesy for the people that have kids on here even though kids as young as three can swear like a trouper. Thanks for your understanding. Jim

Not being "Left" or "Right"... But I spend all my money at the USPS for shipping, stamps, envelopes and etc....In some ways thats why they are hurting too, because of people going online with different companies for these supplies! Don't cry like a baby when they do shut down....Alot of people are at fault!

Actually, just have to rescind that law the Republicans snuck in there about funding 75 years worth of retirement. This law is not applied to any other organization, private or federal that I know of, so why is it dumped on the Postal Service? If not for that, they'd be running a mad surplus, who needs to pay more for postage with a surplus? If they shut down the USPS, it would bother me, but the bright side is, I'd never buy another rock or have any more ebay or impulse buy temptation, so that'd save me and a whole lot of people tons of $$. Hrm. That may be a good thing, even if it ends small home based sale businesses.

Not going to end ebay businesses. Most of my shit is too big for USPS anyhow. Just be extra business for UPS.
However I don't really care to see the post office shut down. I understand cutting costs but when it comes down to it if the republicans save $ here where are they going to blow it at? Same way with the other jerks. Let's kill the postal employees and save $100 trillion then let's give that in tax breaks to Walmart!!!
It never ends with these morons.

I'd also like to add that some of the most dis-interested, lazy and luckluster non-caring employees I have ever ran into have been at the postal service. Oh and the Ford and Gm plants.

The American Postal Worker's Union is firmly in the back pocket of the libs and somehow you imagine it's a right wing conspiracy. Found here: www.unionfacts.com/union/American_Postal_Workers click on political activities. $9.3MILLION to the Democrats $0.5MILLION to the Republicans Yeah, it's a right wing conspiracy. I am not sure but I think that is Liberal Political Tactic #2 Obfuscate and re-direct. I might need/want to rewrite the tactics to include, "when it doubt, just lie about it".

I think it is just a common courtesy for the people that have kids on here even though kids as young as three can swear like a trouper. Thanks for your understanding. Jim Just to be clear. I am no hypocrite. I have been cussing in front of my own child since day one. She has been allowed to cuss herself since, well, forever. The key was, her language was never to be used to hurt others feelings. I have cussed in front of my friends' children too. They attempt to use my language as a lesson for their children. To no avail. Zero effect. My language does not change whom their kids are. Life is real. Starting in 6th grade (or before) they all cuss, they are smart enough to not let mom/dad hear it. But in the end. Everybody cusses. If my (local) buddy (another) Jim ever signs on here he will back me up when I say my kidlet is one of the best mannered kids in her school. In the long run cussing is not good or bad. It's just words. Nonetheless, Jim, I will tone it back for this forum. Simply because it makes better friends. Thank you for who you are.
