My wife, and I went to Leavenworth, Washington this last week, she to police conference, whilst I was off with the intent on collecting soapstone near Lake Wenachee. when we got there, of course, the first thing I did was to stop at the Forest Service to obtain a rock collecting permit, only to find out the area I intended on collecting in was closed, and gated off. So, off I went in search of other sites. The first one I tried the FS had tank trapped the road miles from the soapstone site, so off I went to an alternate. This one was miles up one way roads in the Entiat Mountains (near Lake Wenachee) at Maverick Saddle. About five miles up the last road to the site I came to a tree across the road. Luckily, I had a four foot saw nicely sharpened for the soapstone, and the tree was soon off the road. I might note, there was no place on the road I could turn the rig around, and to pass another rig would have been a bad experience. Here are some photographs of this trip. I will polish a few samples ans post these later. Woody The tree. The saw Soapstone wall Test hole Some float I dug A close up

I'm just amazed how you guys recognize that stuff. I would never see anything worthwhile in that wall.
