I actually got Kim's answering service so was able to leave her a message. I told her everyone is going nuts here wondering how things are going in Texas. If she calls me back, I'll let you know.
When the heck were they supposed to come back anyway?

I thought several folks at least were just going for the first weekend, so I was expecting pics some days ago. Oh well, patience is the nature of this rockhounding thing, I guess. Or maybe this is the makings of a horrow show?... "Twenty eager but naive rockhounds head off to the Woodward Ranch, for what they think is going to be a pleasant week. But what they don't realize, is that at Woodward's there is no phone, no internet.... no way out!!" Just kidding! ;D -Don

Ok, I've changed back to my original identity - somehow more fitting after my experience at Woodward Ranch.
I can see you're all dying for news...there is no cell phone service at the Ranch and no way to get online unless you venture into town.
I had a great time. I finally got to meet some of my generous friends from RTH in person...and I felt insignificant in comparison. I will cherish the memories forever.
Did we find anything?
Rocks Friends Bobcats A Mystery *ask Jamie about THE DEER HOLE* More rocks
You'll probably have to wait a little while for photos... but just a little while! ;DS

I'm back too. Just got in a little while ago. Glad you made it home safely NMrocks. Say hi to my favorite skinny little K-9. Stoner and Desert Dweller are in the air as I write this. Folks, it was great! Start planning for next year. We do plan on doing it again. I will wait until everyone gets home before I post pictures. That way there will be many, many to see. Well, I picked up Stoner and Desert D. at the airport and fifteen minutes later we had a blow out on the right rear tire. Scared the daylights out of us. Good spare. No problems after that. So much to say. Don't know where to start. Collected lots of agates, and petwood. Be prepared to see cabs, slabs, tumbled stones, rough rock, candid pictures etc. etc. You name it. IMHO it was a rock collecting camping trip, but to me it became much more than that. Yeah, we could have ordered, or bought the rocks somewhere, but the friendships and bonds that were made, made it worth so much more than anyone can imagine. It's like we'd known each other for the longest time, when in fact all we really knew about each other is what we've seen on these threads. During the day, we'd go out and look for rocks, then come back tired, and continue talking about rocks at camp. We had a campfire the entire time. Nights are very, very, dark, with more stars than I can count. I'll try not to ramble so I'll stop for now. If you have any questions, or would like to know more, just let me know.

Did it, John To answer your question, Cher - I only brought back about 15 pounds of rock, mostly small specimens and a few cutters, a little bit for the tumbler...don't think I could even fill one flat-rater. I'll try to get some pix when I get them cleaned up. Sure was fun looking though! MEL WAS WRONG! *that must be a first* Didn't need to do any digging. The stuff was lying all over the ground. Just AMAZING! ;DS

Susan: All right smarty pants *LOL*. In my defense, I found plenty of agate on the surface my last time there too but the best agate was often underground or in place in the host rock. It's just been years since I was last there and I figured it would be pretty hunted over by now. I'm glad it wasn't hunted out on the surface and you all found a lot of goodies!!! Now where are the dern pics of the rocks!!!!!!!....mel

Wow, good reports everyone. Can't wait to see more of your picts. Maybe we'll have to do a Utah Blitz one of these years.
Looking forward to more posts and picts.
