Anyone in Central Coast CA want some counter sized marble slabs? A friend is moving next week & has to get rid of them. I have not seen them myself but they are cheap, probably free. She's in Marina, Monterey County.

Sorry - they're gone. Or at least my friends moved and left them behind. They wouldn't fit in a box anyway - they were 8 ft long!

look in you local yellow pages for custom counter manufacturers. A lot of times you can pick up pieces they've trimmed off or circles from the hole saws for nothing

Karen, that slab is 3/4" thick and 6 feet by 10 feet or so, roughly I mean.
I have seen them with single crystals as large as a jumbo pizza (18" or so)

Counters need to be made of something I don't mind spilling on & can handle a few dings & scratches There ain't nuthin' in your kitchen gonna harm labradorite. It'll ruin your knives. All standard kitchen liquids will not effect it, I cannot think of a single thing in your home that could harm it. Ohhh maybeeeee an overheated flaming boiling pot of deep frier oil.......... you'd never do that, right?!!!!! Comet claims to not scratch marble, but not safe on glass..... hmmm.... The MSDS shows it is calcium carbonate, no problem. I found a paper using xray diffraction to show Ajax is Quartz don't use that. The same paper indicates that soft scrub is calcite, no problem.

Obviously you have never met my family! I almost burned the house down last weekend with a pot of soup I left on low - couple hours later when I got back from errands that ran overtime - smoke alarm is screaming - dogs are howling - smoke boiling out the door as I opened it!! My poor dogs! The neighbors never noticed a thing!
