Hi everyone! I am relatively new to cabochon making and am in the process of purchasing a combo unit from Covington (sp?) form an online store. I would much rather support a physical store, but have been unable to find any retailers in the Bay Area (CA). Does anyone know of a place I can go to??? Thanks for your time

You could call or e-mail Covington Engineering and ask if they have a local dealer. Most online dealers (myself included)drop ship their equipment.

Thanks for your time I don't live anywhere near you but I've found that ordering online (new, used or otherwise), generally allows you to purchase whatever it is you want less expensively. One of our members www.jsgemslapidary, is an excellent source of everything lapidary at a decent price as is www.idahorockshop.com, also owned by one of our members. Of course there are other retail sellers such as The Rock Shed and Kingsley North as well as many others. Physical retail stores generally charge affair amount more than you would pay through these folks.

Consolidated rock and minerals in Vacaville is our only good rock shop in the area and even they don't display equipment for sale. You might want to call the owner Greg and talk about it with him - he's a really nice guy and might be able to arrange something or direct you somewhere close.

Thank you both for your input! Like I said before, I would prefer supporting someone local or someone that is associated with this forum, so both replies are useful - thank you!

Lortone supports their retailers. When on the phone with them for a tumbler part I was told to get it at my local rock shop, they only mail out to people who don't have a local rock shop. I don't know if Covington does that, they should.
