A guy in Germanton, NC has an 18" saw listed on Craigslist. I drove this morning to look at it. He wants $500 for it. It is one of the early models with the gold paint. Dates back to the 1960s or early 70s. Over the phone the guy sang praises for the saw and claimed it was "very clean" and had a "good blade" but that was not accurate. There is less than 1/16" diamond left on the old blade. The inside of the saw has not been cleaned and has dried sludge and oil residues. So the saw needs a good cleaning, a new blade, and the bearings sounded like they need replacing too. The automatic shut-off components are missing and it needs a new tension spring for the vise carriage. I'm not sure if there is anything else wrong or not. He's also throwing in some unakite, low grade Brazilian agate rough, and five gallons of saw oil. The price seems fair for what it is but it is a little more of a project saw than what I am interested in right now. I am in no way connected to the man that has this saw for sale. I just thought I would post the link here in case anyone on site is looking for an 18" project saw. winstonsalem.craigslist.org/jwl/4300063584.html
