Is there any easy field trip with easy collecting nearish to Bullhead City , Arizona? Material does not matter. The two cities are about 80 miles apart on High 95.
Thanks!

Depends on how close you are referring to. Within 10 miles there are some small pieces of black agate. You can find crinoid fossils in various areas nearby. There is a lot of selenite around here. There is also dunite and ecoglite. Chalcedony is pretty common and I have found one deposit of blue chalcedony nearby. Should be able to find some agate and jasper out by the Anniversary Narrows area.

Day trips preferred. I really like blue chalcedony.

You can go pretty far on a day trip. I do day trips over 100 miles each way, which opens up a lot more possibilities. There are some good areas South of Boulder City where you can find quartz crystals. There is also chrysocolla and turquoise all within that distance. I still have to find out where the purple agate is at, which I can find out at the next gem club meeting.
The blue chalcedony is under a dirt road and they get a little upset when you dig up the road so you would probably have to do that at night.
When do you plan to be in Boulder City?
