hi all, looks like i'll be heading out to AZ to visit some friends and i talked my buddy out there into going rockhounding. my goal is some fire agate and/or fortification agate. i'll be staying in Queen Creek. if anyone can point me in the right direction about where i should be looking out in Pinal County i'd be much appreciative. Mindat has a ton of listings so i figured i'd be lazy and just ask for some tips since this will be my first time collecting out there.
thanks in advance.

Your not going to find much in Pinal County except copper minerals, geodes, marble and onyx. If you want fortification head west to the 4th July Buttes area, near there is saddle mtn where you may find some fire agates.
Good luck,
Tim

Saddle Mountain....I found quite a bit that could contain fire, and a couple pieces with visible ( but small) fire. this was just recently that I went too....its easy to get to as well, and even a car could make it. I did not go to the site in the books though...I went a little further down and then up to the base.
