Hey guys, yeah it differs depending where you are in country it also depends on your job. With my job I spend a lot of my time outside the wire highly interactive with the locals. There are also venders that are allowed to come on the FOB as well as a big weekly bazaar. Seems like faceted gems ore the main sellers at these but I don't know enough about them to get involved. I see a lot of cabbed opals, saphire and rubies too. Lapiz is my mainstay here and can be gotten in rough and polished form.

Hey ejfree this sounds like a good opportunity for all. I'm a vet that spent some time in the Middle East a long time ago. Wasn't rock hounding then, but we did always seem to find strange things in the shops and bazaars there! Lots of bootlegged items around! I'm interested and will send you a pm. I think as soon as someone vouches for you on this board you can get some good business. ~Roland

I can vouch for Elijah, he is a friend of mine stationed out of Tampa, lives near me. He is a fellow rockhound, He asked me where he could better sell some of this, I told him to come on here. He sent me a box a few months ago and it is awesome stuff

Maybe a group purchase once things get sorted out ? Just a thought, might make it easier for him.

I just got an email from him, he said the base commander is shutting down the vendors, and he's losing his source for any more of this stuff. BUT he does have a top grade chunk of deep blue, problem is it's 9.9 kilos! Good Luck!

He texted me today saying the same, I told him to drop the chunk and then get the smaller pieces , lol There will be some out there, quite a few FB members on the Lapidary forum have purchased from him and I am sure they will cut and resell some. I got mine so I am good to go
