New as in made in China or one of the originals that was never used? The China HP guys told me a long time ago they were going to copy the Polly arbors. Curios if they ever did.

Pretty sure it's one of the originals. He has boxes of stuff that a store forgot about for many years, and which he bought when they went oob. He's been putting together stuff from all the parts and selling it. Is there a way to tell the difference? Don bought a large parcel of some of the stuff, seems to have been good stuff.... Don?

Excelent stuff. Haven't had a chance to use any of it yet, but I plan on putting a couple of Poly saw arbors together soon.

Phil, that hood was for a 10 or 12 inch arbor.

I traded him some slabs for 4 of the arbor castings. Pristine stuff.

Vugs, dunno, I'll ask. Don, just talked to him and it's without hoods at that price. I asked him to email me a pic so I can post it here.

Vugs, No saws to sell. Have you tried craigslist and ebay? They're usually loaded with them/

stupid question -- what is a poly arbor? Is it some type of plastic, like phenolic?

stupid question -- what is a poly arbor? Is it some type of plastic, like phenolic? Jan, Poly was the brand name of what was probably the best lapidary arbor ever made. Very heavy construction, and if taken care of they last forever. The housing is very heavy cast aluminum. No plastic in them. Here ya go Jan. This is a Poly arbor.

My local rock club has an original Poly Arbor but the wheel guards are for the 8" X 1 1/2" wheels. We need the guards for 3" wide wheels. Hopefully, I'm thinking the arbor is the same length, if not I guess we will keep what we have.

I looked thru the stuff yesterday, there are 6 shrouds in there, all are either 8" or 10/12" but none are for the wide wheels. All for the 1 1/2's. I have 2 of the 10/12 shrouds out in the garage, again, they are for the 1 1/2 wide wheels.

I have a couple used Poly arbors that will become part of our shop one day. I plan to bend sheetmetal pans like these for expandos. www.lortone.com/ns8.html

Check with John, jsgems for a good deal on a new saw. He's a member, and gives our members good prices.
