Boy, does that take me back! Many years ago I spent a couple of pleasant days rolling nodule after nodule out of the loose volcanic soil there. I probably ended up with 500 or 600 pounds, many nodules with multicolored "paisley" bottoms and fortification "tops," including some crystal cavity geodes. Beautiful material! But a nasty divorce took care of my hoard. I have no idea what happened to it all. Do you know if the location's still producing?

It is hard to get to now. Ranchers have to let you travel on their land. The local clubs go there sometimes. But I think it is drying up. Don't ya love exes, mine took my truck. LOL

Been down that road myself guys. However, I hear if you play a country music song backwards, you get your truck back, plus you get your house and dog back Never heard rocks mentioned in a country song though

We'll this is one of my favorite places. The Idaho gem club has a trip out to their claim every year. Beacon Hill is far from drying up it's just a access issue due to having to cross two private ranches with locked gates to get to the diggings.

I got out with an unpaid-for VW bug and all my possessions that would fit inside it. Didn't have a dog. But I lost a 13-year rock-collection including prime materials from very well known locations, a Frantom trim saw, a wonderful Highland Park slab saw, Poly arbors and much else. On the plus side I met the love of my life and have had a long, very happy second marriage. She gives me free rein with gems, lapidary work etc. because: 1) I love it and 2) she gets lots of glittery pretties to wear as the result of my obsession. Nice trade-off.
