Hi folks. I've never tried to sell any of my rough til now, but with my wallet a little too much on the light side and my girlfriend complaining about my ever growing rock pile, I'd thought I'd throw this up here to the fine people at RTH and see if anyone might be interested. I don't own a precision scale, so I can only guesstimate this block weighs in the 2-3 lb range...again, this is just approximate. the dimensions at the widest points are about 3 1/4" x 2 3/8" x 2 1/4". This is local Washington material that was self-collected. This really is a pretty specimen with rich green hues fading into lighter greens and some cool looking black and silver veins in the matrix. If anyone's interested, please feel free to leave a reply or shoot me a PM. I'm terrible at checking my messages, but I promise I'll keep checking in and will get back to those interested ASAP. ...AND since this is my first potential transaction here on the boards and want to disspell any apprehension of dealing with a fairly new member, I'd be willing to go ahead and ship this out first, before receiving payment, then when you get it and are a happy camper, you can send me payment afterwards. Sound allright? Oh, and I really have no idea what I want for this thing. Whatever you think is a fair price I guess. Thanks for looking, guys. -Chris

I should also mention I don't have a Pay-Pal account. lol. What's the most common way of completing these transaction without Pay-Pal? A good 'ole fashioned check in the mail?

Scott, I thought of you when he first posted that for sale. I kinda thought it would be too small for you.
Good luck with the sale, Chris, it's a nice chunk. Can't believe no one has snapped it up yet, would be great for carving.

Chris, There are those of us who exchange personal checks, cash bills folded in a plain sheet of paper, and or whatever else is comfortable when you are willing to trust or risk interactions over "small" transactions. Your offer of showing the goods before payment sounds reasonable to my ears. Tom

Agree with Tom - its a good offer. I was seriously considering it myself but working with jade scares me haha. I haven't worked with it yet.

Thanks for the replies and tips/advice everybody. I know the block isn't huge, but I wanted to start somewhere and put something on the small side up for offer to 'test the waters' you could say. I have quite a bit more of this quality and in larger sizes, but haven't quite brought myself to unload my most prized possessions...the nicer larger sized specimens. I may still do just that. Having said that, this one's still on the table. I know it would make a handful of nice cabs! -Chris

I think the offer is too casual to attract buyers. I could be wrong. It might sell in the next hour. LOL.) But, jade quality varies a lot, and the translucent BC jade is more prized. Also the difference between 2lbs and 3lbs is about 1/3 of the price, so I would get some sort of scale. There are cheap ones at kitchen and postal stores or at WalMart or Harbor Freight. I have seen 2lb 10oz of similar shades of Washington State green sell for about $3/lb. (For example, www.ebay.com/itm/Washington-State-Varigated-Green-Jade-Rough-/380888532336), so if this is higher quality you should work to establish that. It really is not fair to not name a price for something as variable as jade. You might want to put a few more small pieces, where the whole lot fits in SFRB. People like to spread shipping costs. Good luck

daniel is correct. Your offer is solid. Pay after receiving the goods will rarely be turned down.
BUT (there is always a but..)
No weight and no price. That is the issue. Once I get the stone I get to say what it's worth and then we have a disagreement and stop being friends. You must at least say "I want $X.xx/lb for this stone", then at least the buyer can say "OK at max it's 3 pounds times $X.xx, OK send it"
Chris, we have communicated privately and I am certain you are a cool dude. My advice is the same as Daniel's (he is really smart!) get a scale and weight it. Then you can say "This stone is y pounds and I want $X.xx per pound and the total price is $AB.cd, and I will send it before payment..... "
More folks will be inclined to take you up on a deal that is less open ended.
Your stone is spot on. I'll take one like it with minimum thickness of 4" at a pre-agreed price per pound.

I didn't mean for this to confuse anybody and, for sure, I should have thought this out a little more beforehand regarding price...chalk it up to a rookie seller's mistake. Sorry about that. My intent was just to entertain any offers that seemed fair to both parties and to come to an agreed upon price *before* I shipped it out. The only reason I mentioned payment afterwards is due to some of the horror stories I've read about somebody plucking out cash for goods only to receive said item weeks later or sometimes not receive it at all. I just wanted to assure prospective buyer's of my honesty. Scott, sounds good. I'll get back to you through PM. I've been needing to do that anyway. Thanks everybody for your suggestions. I'd much rather entertain transactions like this with good people like you rather than attempt it through e-bay!

Just has to be accurate to 1/2 oz, and go up to 5-10lbs. Harbor Freight has one good upto 20. like $10 bucks.
