Wish I didn't live half way across the country. That's a Highland Park flat lap. I have the same machine. Diamond Pacific now produces that flat lap with only minor changes. They have spare parts that fit the H.P.

That's a smoking deal! The flat lap is probably worth what they are asking for everything.

I've been talking with the guy. Trying to figure out if I can make some room for all the stuff.

The slab saw is a kit saw and was essentially built in place with no wheels or any good way to move it. Might have to take it apart to move it and rebuild the enclosure.

Just heard back from the guy and it sounds like a bidding war is happening right now. I'm staying out of it.

It's gone now. I expect to maybe see it on CL portland soon for a lot more money. I don't do the bid war thing either, it has happened several times with this reseller in the local area.

Not sure what the laws are in Washington state but in some states if someone advertises something at a set price then they are legally required to sell it to anyone who accepts. This law keeps realtors and other sellers more honest. Larry C.

Most of those laws only apply to people who sell for a living, not the private party.

I've noticed that happens quit a bit in Washington where someone out does the original sale price to buy then find it later on CL Portland. Sneaky Snakes ;D It's gone now. Yeah that might have been the guy that was a reseller who used to advertise WTB on craigslist. I believe he advertised as being in Klamath Falls, or Clackamas, OR. He had a nice heart warming story written up about how he and his whole family had become interested in collecting rocks and how his two little daughters wanted to learn how to cut and polish cabochons and they were looking for rock collections and lapidary equipment for the family. Which is all great except the thing was the guy was really a reseller using the family angle to soften up potential sellers. He ran that ad many times for several months a couple of years back. I didn't get the impression the seller was a re-seller cause the price was so low low for the equipment. I was suggesting that I've seen equipment sell from folks who are willing to pay more right of the bat, clean equipment, slap paint on it sometimes and resell for top prices. You could be right.
When I was buying a 15 pound lortone unit two years the seller had two. The one I wanted sold and I grabbed the 2nd best. I received random call a couple months later from a guy who bought the unit I wanted. I never gave him my information. He contacted the original seller. I thought it was a kind call and gesture when he wasted to sell me the model he bought. He said family issues came up and wanted to see if I wanted the unit before he put it on CL saying he would rather sell it to me knowing it would go to a good use and home. Then he gave me the asking price and it was double the sound off the original price I was going to pay originally. There was nothing different or updated justifying double the price.
I was a little frustrated that he went as far as to call the original seller to get my contact info. I said no thanks and hung up.
Washington has lots of good old equipment to offer when folks are ready to sell. Since a lot of the manufacturers were based in Ballard, Northgate, Believe and Everett. I'm grateful to be living here and living the hobby.

Larry C. I remember seeing that ad. Didn't realize he was a reseller..... The guy I am remembering also resold the used equipment and rocks on ebay and had a similar story about his two daughters and family in his listings on ebay with the only difference was in the wording on eBay he was using the family angle as a selling tool rather than as a buying tool as he had done on CL. I don't know that he ever blatantly cheated anyone, just seemed like he wasn't being completely honest and was trying to be crafty and manipulative to get an advantage. Larry C.
