Hey y'all - I am having a really hard time finding some good old fashioned bloodstone that isn't "fancy". I want a dark green slab or two with nothing but bright blood spots. Anyone have any or know where I can get some? Shoot me a picture, link and/or pm. I'm really serious abt no other colors. Thanks

It's been probably over 20 years since I have seen any of the good old classic bloodstone for sale. A couple of years ago I had a guy in a rock shop try to convince me ruby in zoisite was "bloodstone". You'll probably have your best luck asking some of the 80-90 year old lapidaries at your local club or show that have been collecting for 50+ years. Larry C.

Thanks- Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I had some and let it go not knowing that I couldn't hardly replace it. I didn't realize it was so hard to get now. Can't hurt to ask, though.

What size piece are you needing?

What size piece are you needing? If it is as I described- I would like a large slab abt 1/4" thick or a couple of small- same thickness. I have a customer who really, really wants some jewelry with it.

When you say large, can you give approx length / width?

When you say large, can you give approx length / width? Well, I reckon approximately 6" x 5". But, if you have what I want, then I'm not going to be real picky.

Thanks Crap I wish I had seen this earlier...I saw several slabs for sale exactly like what you described this last weekend. VERY dark green with big blotches of blood. They were kind of expensive - like $12 - and they weren't large slabs - so I put them back. I may be able to find them again - in the next week or two. Is this an open-ended quest or should I check in with you?

Thank you, but I need the dark green. Great blood spots, though.

I may have what you're looking for. I'll have to dig through a pile of boxes in the basement to see if I still have a few slabs.

It may take a few days. I have bunches of boxes to dig through. If I still have some slabs, it's the real old stuff that you're looking for.

No worries I'll keep an eye on this thread. It may be a couple of weeks before I can get back to the rock store. The slabs were in a dark and dreary back room so I doubt they would be gone any time soon.
