I just got a bunch of brand new old style thumper wheels and figured I'd pass on the savings to anyone who is going to try or already making their own 3 inch wide diamond wheels. These are the same thumpers (AKA split rims) that covington still puts on their new machines, and which they sell for $65 each. check <http://www.covington-engineering.com/wheel_leverlock.html> to see what I'm talking about. I have about 25 of them, and when these are gone, there won't be anymore deals like this for sure!
$20 each plus shipping. IIRC, I can get 2 in a USPS flat rate large flat style box.
This is a pic of one that has been in use for the past 8 months, 3 days a week, 4 hours per day, in a teaching class and has gotten lots of use. I'd estimate 10 cabs per day average use. that's 10 x 3 x 8 x 4 for a total of almost 1000 cabs and it's still going strong! you can clearly see all the diamond it still has.
