71 Judith Peak The first time I went to this place, it seemed to be a dud. The rock was there as promised, but the loose diamonds were not there except for a scarce few which had been smashed out of the rock by force and were damaged at best. The first time I went here I looked for the smoky quartz but couldn't find any. The view was cool though. The next time I went here, I had some better information which pointed me to not only the loose diamonds, but the smoky quartz too. The quartz was a layer alongside one of the buildings on the side of the mountain. A few people at least had tried to get it out by hitting the quartz itself. I removed all of the easily gotten stuff and much of the difficult stuff also by using finesse instead of brute force. If you want to find the veins of smoky quartz you just need to look at the side of the mountain by the building most of the way up to the top.( I think it is the one to the right of the pin if I am not mistaken) It is there but the easy stuff is no longer there. It is in my shed. There is still a lot left for the person willing to work for it. If you want the MT Diamonds, you need only hit the hillsides where the road comes up the mountain but before the turn off to the radar station. The turn off to the radar station is where you turn uphill and can go nowhere but up. I am going to come back. This is a good diamond spot

This is one of my favorite places to hunt black diamonds, plus a few other minerals on the other side of the road (on the outer cuts)...It's about an hours drive from my home town.. We have found lots of diamonds, plus I take home the host rocks too and work on them in my shop.. Can also pan for gold in that area too..........Great country and good people in the Lewistown area..... The old buildings there on the top are from the Air Force Radar site in the 50's....
