Here's a couple I cut this past Sunday. Unknown material. Mixed hardness, the lower area with black and white was pretty well silicified.. the rest was rather soft Here's the back.. anyone know what it might be? Moss agate. Not sure of the location. Unfortunately a vug opened up at the top, which wouldn't have been so bad but it was packed with dirt that I couldn't completely clean out. Oh well, it is what it is. lit Thanks for the look

Awesome!!!!!!! That first one especially is super cool. I have seen something like it, but it was rare and I don't remember the name. Other than that... maybe swirly rhyolite? I had some and it was a bi**h to cab, but worth it.
edit- just found out what I was thinking.... rattlesnake jasper aka a rare variant of howardite.

That first one's crazy cool! I've got some pet wood with similar patterning and colors...Maybe that's what it is.

Brian, the agate is bitchin'!!
Do you have a water pick dental tool? Maybe the high pressure water jet will flush the clay out of the vug and gift you with some crystals!!

Hey thanks everyone! mohs it was from a small slab I picked up in an estate sale a couple years ago. rockjunquie after googling possibly swirl rhyolite.. I'm pretty sure it isn't howardite. Other than a couple small scraps that's one stone that's always eluded me washingtonrocks I was leaning towards some sorta pet wood myself.. maybe something partially agatized? @shotgunner Thanks! I cleaned it up best I could with a small dental pick.. I'm thinking a water pick would be a good investment

I have had some good results using an untrasonic cleaner, diluted ammonia, & a little dawn to clean out vugs.
