Wow a camping trip would be awesome! I have seen groups of up to a dozen kayakers doing it. Bonfire and beer. Rowdy bunch. Lots of single travelers too. Camping way out there by themselves.

jamesp The coral that show small flowers are extra special. Do all those corals have the flowers underneath a layer, or is there some other reason?

Pat, if the silica completely fills a coral shaped void where the coral is completely deteriated then there will be no patterns. But if it fills as the coral deteriates then the flowers get preserved. My best guess anyway.
