good luck with that one. I just cabbed some for the first time last night and the hardness varies like crazy. I could tell right away at the trim saw. some areas cut like talc and then some more like quartz. takes patience to cab and a light touch. Anxious to hear other opinions. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/70785/spring-time-bumblebeeChuck

" Bumble Bee Jasper activates the Sacral and Solar Plexus chakras, enabling you to accept change, find new opportunities, increase your self-esteem and make decisions without relying on emotions. Physically, Bumble Bee Jasper can help with abdominal issues, allergies, the nervous system, and heart and circulatory system disorders." " I will intuitively choose the piece for you." What a shyster putz!

Hey don't laugh I met and became good friends with a fellow named Brian at Desert Gardens that formed and polished these Chakra stones. First off he was a fantastic lapidarists to get the shine and shapes. Some were very large. His both was quite popular and he sold lots of stuff. I have a bad hip and the first time I looked at his bender booth he told me the stone that a person needed would call to you. I tried to ignore all this hoopla but was attracted to a odd shaped large piece of Mahogany Obsidian. Finally I jokingly said this one attracts me.... Brian then told me that that one helped with large joints pain and that I should rub it on my hip!!! Wow... So I did and he told me the direction and pattern to rub it and it worked! I decided not to buy it. 100 dollars is a lot so I went back all the time to rub my hip! Gotta say wish I had bought that thing now. After two months of knowing Brian I can tell you he is " Real" and who cares whether metaphysical is a science as long as it WORKS!
Quartzsite is a fantastic place, but you gotta not go as a tourist....instead get out there where the pavement meets the souls there and live life. I never met a single vendor that wasn't totally friendly and helpful. They wanted to share their craft with you! They are lovers of rocks, life and most importantly living!!!

This is mostly the cut ends and smaller cuts I did on a piece of rough....So to answer the question, can I tumble it with petwood or will I have to tumble it with lower scaled rocks... I don't want to beat it up,just try an experiment..

Sorry for the hijack Mike. This probably isn't the place to be discussing Metaphysical vs the Placebo effect. But when does a thread not go off topic around here!
My best guess to your question, being I have never worked with Bumble Bee Jasper, would be to either run them with "softer" stones than pet wood or to keep a very close eye on them if you do.
The pieces in that link from Chuck don't seem to be undercut, but from their over all look, I don't think they tumbled very long. I'd watch for undercutting, and if your pieces have all the cavities like those in the link, for grit carry over.

Do you need to take any precautions handling Bumble Bee jasper?

Oops I too apologize for the hijack.
Back on topic I have often wandered about a post I saw somewhere about tumbling using newspapers. Did I dream that one?

Do you need to take any precautions handling Bumble Bee jasper? I take precautions on every rock I handle and cut-I don't want COPD,lung disorders of any kind! I scrub my hands after I 'm around my equipment... Some laugh, but it's my health, not theirs!!!!!!

Me, too, Fossilman. Try to keep work area and machines clean. Handwashing big time. So much that fingers split. I wondered about handling the BB jasper since I think it has arsenic in it. ?

Was told to keep the hood down after the saw was finished with the cut-letting it sit for a few minutes to let the mist settle down, other than that, wash up after you handle it,but I use cat littler, dawn dish soap and clean water during the slabbing game..So I think it's safe..
