That is a monster Dave. Moving very fast, even across land. Looks like the Rio Grande agates in s. Texas are getting ready to get a good washing. a long line of moisture feeding it from the south. Jalisco getting ready to have a bad night.

Patricia is going to be a nasty one. Hope everyone in Mexico is taking this seriously, and preparing as best they can!

Yep, jamesp, she'll be heading into Texas and pounding those Rios next! Should make them easier to find this winter?

10:00 am CDT: At this time, the Category 5 winds are occurring over a very small area near the center - about 15 miles across.
Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km).
No sandbags for this guy. /photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

They already have that skill set down. That's awesome he's bricking his place up. What too soon?

I thought in the pacific it was a cyclone? They are hurricanes in Hawaii. From NOAA: Hurricanes, cyclones, and typhoons are all the same weather phenomenon; we just use different names for these storms in different places. In the Atlantic and Northeast Pacific, the term “hurricane” is used. The same type of disturbance in the Northwest Pacific is called a “typhoon” and “cyclones” occur in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean. oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/cyclone.htmlThe rain in Texas isn't even from this hurricane, that rain ought to be there in another day or two to add to what's going on now.
