Erich, your machine with saw removed & 2 expando drums added would look like this. You'd have to either find an original, or fabricate a pan & hood like those on the left end of this machine.

I was talking about something simpler like the "splash shield" as shown on the right side of this page. www.lortone.com/ns8.htmlPull out the saw and mount an expanding drum with such a splash shield, install a water valve and good to go. I'd only go with one drum. Easy enough to change belts. (drums are like 75 bucks - I may have a used one around) CaptBob,the machine you posted, did you just buy the arbor by itself? I do like that configuration. The 2 wheel Lortone arbor? Found that on eBay for like 75 bucks years ago. Sitting out in my shed, will come up a use for it someday. Probably go for closer to $150 nowadays (?) New maybe 3 to 4 hundred? Finding used is a huge bonus!

LOL. Bob, I have a brand new Loretone arbor with diamond grinding wheels on it, and the under wheel spray. Bought it a few years back to use for grinding sphere preforms.
Saw a 2 wheel Loretone arbor on ebay the other day with 2 half rotted expando's on it. The guy was asking almost $400,00 for it. The pan & hood looked like they were about rusted out from not being maintained. Some sellers seem to think their junk is made of gold. But there are good deals out there if you watch the listings every day.

If you say so Bob. Until I get my 8" Poly arbors set up, 6" Genie is all I have to work with. Been doing just fine since the early 90's with it. But I cut my cabbing teeth on 8" Poly arbors with the old bump wheels & SC way back in the early 50's.

You need a hosting site like Photobucket.

If you remove a saw and put a drum or two mount the saw separately on a piece of plywood. Sell or keep. I had a combo Frantom but didn't care for the saw running when cabbing or coating unit with saw oil mist. I prefer free standing saws. HP 8" saws (may be a 9" too) are worth at least $300 if in good shape.
