I am in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, I didn't think I was close to where Lake Superior agates are, but anyone know if any other agates might be around here?
I've spent over a month up here for work (broken into multiple trips) but never thought to ask.
Thanks!

You're pretty close to Drummond Island, so you could go looking for pudding stones. You're also fairly close to Whitefish point, which has lakers. There's an agate museum there, but I've never been to it. I'm not sure if there are lakers in Whitefish Bay or not. The closest I've hunted to there is Vermillion Point, which is just west of Whitefish Point. I have found agates there, but don't get excited about finding awesome banded agates. The ones I've found have been pretty small and they're few and far between. It's still a fun hunt. There is also black sand on the beaches that contains very, very fine gold.
You're about three hours north of me. If you were just a little closer, I'd drive up there and go hunting with you. Are you going to be working there through the summer? I get out of school on June 16 and I'll have lots of time.

Also if you go to the Indian River Area there is Petosky stone to be found in a lot of areas If you can find some of the local gravel pits or where there has been some construction recently done . the best day to go out is a day that is rain or misting as it helps show them up

We will have to see, these trips are always full of the unexpected. Would love to go with you though if it worked out!
