Jamesp gave me a wonderful selection of heat treated corsl slabs and rough last fall. The point is 1.5 inches long and just over 3/4 inches wide. You can see the little coral critters in it. It's a good knapping material. It can take more abuse and put up with my rookie mistakes better than glass and obsidian. I am working small pieces now because I need to learn how it reacts to percussion and pressure flaking.
My good friend Tommy, I really hate the lucky dude!!! LOL. Beautiful rockhound dawg, wonderful beautiful wife, sigh, great composition and cabbing skills, and finds really great stuff when rockhounding!!! Plus he is a all around great and generous member here on RTH What's not to hate about the man!!!
Anyway he will hopefully post a pic later for me!

That would fool me as being real. The knappers make them over the top. That is a very realistic point. amused-critters(corallites), also called polyps. Polyps are the critters that used to live in the corallites. Corallites are the structural patterns. Well very done Bill. 'Real' Florida points, about half out of coral. The long Marion at lower left is one of the knapper's favorites to knap. It is named after Marion County Florida where my camp is, that one found on my property.

Couple of fine Marion's(Newnans) found by Son Anderson. No wonder white man couldn't and wouldn't extract the Seminoles. Who wants that razor spear broken off in your carcass. coral

Oh ho Tommy you done great!!! If you want to see the critters you have to zoom the pic. Tommy put this on here from my email, I owe him one. Reckon I could give him a ride on one of my horses, it's not far to Wickenburg Az. That's where Chips is now.

JI'm it's not my first point, I have been knapping a couple of years! It's my first coral, different rocks work differently so you have to adjust your speed, size bopper, etc to get it right. I broke this one twice by hitting the slabbet too slow.
