radio - That's some gorgeous variscite! I love variscite. I much prefer it to turquoise. Thanks. Check out the smithing section. I just posted a ring with a killer piece of it

Still to hot to get out there for probably a few more weeks so I have been mainly playing with some of turquoise I have been mining and finding. These are naturally hard turquoise pieces with no stabilization and no backing. Some other pieces I have started smoothing out but have a ways to go.

Great work everyone. I have been battling a sciatic nerve problem. Mostly doing nothing. Depressing, very difficult to stand or walk. Mostly sitting in the Kings chair searching Ebay. Sitting is very comfortable! This is a strange medical process. Finally started with a Chiropractor and after a week got a little relief. My regular doctor reccomended it because otherwise it's drugs, neurologist, othopedic, KNIFE!!!! Not good so hopefully this chiropractor thing eill work. Have done some flint knapping but sitting and chipping rocks is not easy either. It's ok I b a survivor!!!

I have been in the same boat for over a year. 3 lumbar discs and 2 SI joints! I can't walk very much. BUT, I feel like I am on the mend. I leaned over the wrong way yesterday and something gave. It was sore as hell all day and now today I can walk a little easier. I hope it sticks!

Not much new eye candy to look at. Is everyone busy with summer or just not feeling it? As for me, I haven't cabbed in about a month. I just ain't feeling it, for some reason. I would love to be able to do some more cabbing but I got a ton of writing & editing work to do all at once. I know it would be good to rest my brain some and just focus on rock cutting but at the moment time does not allow. I mostly just pick up rocks and turn them over in my hand while thinking of nothing which doesn't make for a great picture. I hope to post some more stuff soon. Next month!

Its August, so nothing much going on. A few projects on the way, but the past few weeks was mostly planing hiking-trips with and for my kids to get them away from their computers for a while. Teasing them on to hunt Pokemons to ensue batteries are empty as quickly as possible and then have no other choice than enjoying nature and real company.......
Will post a trip report a bit later with pictures.

I have my tumblers turned off for the first time in almost 5 years right now while I try to concentrate my efforts on metalsmithing. I have a couple shows coming up and I have a gift shop hounding me for more products so I might have to shift gears and get a few items made specifically for selling then go back to smithing. I still check in here a few times a day but I have not had a whole lot of items to post.

Keeps my brick topped off and can work the phone on it too. Maybe I should make a thread on it. Easy peasy and under $30! kk I hunt Pokemon on two devices. I run out of power before the phone/iPad combo!!

My projects have been quite varied the past couple of weeks. I have been sorting polished Marfa bouquet agate that I vibed 2 years ago and am finally going to remove calcite and other blemishes that are mucking up the finished surface on some really nice material. This material was collected with a guide, Paul Wofford, taking us(wife) to various ranches a number of times back in the 60's. I then am going to fill these pits/holes with epoxy or AC and then polish for my collection. My next step today is checking to see if the acid worked and what needs to be removed by hand with a flex-shaft diamond burr and then dopping. The uv-18 vibe is also on the polish stage for some owyhee jasper and should be ready by Saturday. There is also some dopped montana that needs some excess wax removed before shaping and then the vibe. Finally, unlike a lot of others, I enjoy working in the garage workshop with the fan running and the temperature 95-100 degrees F. and plenty of iced tea at hand.
