I believe you are right, metalsmith. Bonded, as in insured. A legalese thing. I think if a person has an item of great value (monetarily or sentimental value), they will pay a premium price for someone bonded to cut it. Most here think of bonded as attaching something. I would vouch for the honesty and veracity of just about everyone on this forum, but you need to remember that everything does not always go perfectly, stuff happens. Stones slip out of vices, could have fractures internally, etc. Personally, I'd check with a local rock club. Or, go to a rock and gem show where you could meet face to face with people that could do it for you. I would not ship it off to someone. What Chas said above, it is a HOBBY, and none of us are keen on litigation.

Appreciative of your comments...no desire for litigation, just want a credible cutter...don't want to ruin it for him...it has enormous sentiment attached to it. Just want Someone with experience, because we don't want to try to cut it ourselves. Anyone in the Northwoods with experience please respond? ❣️

Although we have Total Members: 7,871 and over a thousand guests visit every day, we have so many diverse interests that there have only been 507 "views" of this minor post so far, many of them repeats.
Consider posting in other sections of RTH - Slabs and Saws, Buy Sell and Swap, etc.
Good Luck!
