Looked at my little pretties, and added more grit. Patience, grasshopper, patience. It's only been 8 1/2 days for the original batch, and several have been added in. Lots of smoothing on the ones that just got put in. One I put in about 4 days ago is about half the size as when I started... I don't think that one is going to amount to much unless there's a hard core in there somewhere. I took pictures this time.

Well just finished mine up yesterday, yet to take a picture but will post as soon as I do. Not really that confident about the finished product but I was in the situation that every time I thought that I had the stones to a point where I could do the final 600 SCI pre-polish another fault would open up. I got to the point where no further tumbling was possible or else you would need more than a 10x loupe just to see them. The good news is that I ended up with five flawless well patterned stones with a mild shine on them. Will probably post them off real quick in case I am tempted to mess round with them again as all I will end up with is a pile of mud.
Normally I wouldn't go near anything like Hayden Hill jasper (and it isn't a real jasper) as it is way too soft. However was happy to give it a go for the competition. I must admit it was real tricky to get right.
Best of luck to everyone who is still working on their entries
Cheers Scott

I'm pretty sure that I won't be getting any trophies this year. None of my rocks looked that good. From a distance they had a shine, but up close, there were a lot of problems. About 3/4 of my rocks wouldn't shine up at all. I even had rocks that got shiny on one side and were dull on the other. Super variable material. I do not want any more.

Anybody know when they announce the winners? I know it's in September, but when? Early, middle--? Difficult stuff, I agree. I had one that took a bright polish on one side, and a matte luster on the other.

Good luck to those who entered. I didn't even finish mine. Very disappointed in these rocks but that's the challenge of the contest. Congrats to those that had rocks good enough to enter. I'll try again next year.

I'm not sure when their show is but the winner will probably know before then. Andrea
