Although this is only a 6" saw-I would highly recommend it for the beginner & even more advanced lapidarian..Eloxite sells this saw for $236.00 including a diamond blade..The only draw-back with this saw is that the bearings are integral to the shaft-that is-when the bearings go out-you must replace the whole shaft unit(pricey)..I have not had a bearing problem with my unit(2 years old)....I recommend the 1/3hp motor over the 1/4hp motor for obvious reasons..
