That's what they say. Had to bop this big insulator real hard to break a chip off. AO is a tough abrasive-NOT brittle. Can not afford to have porous ceramics around high voltage. Water absorption not good, so they often use straight up aluminum oxide ceramic. Bet it will be slow to shape in the tumbler. fragment off a 10 pound high voltage insulator scratches crystalline quartz tumble

So if it's AO will it act as ceramic abrasive in a tumbler?

He said they had a 30gallon drum of AO scrap for $400. Passed on that "deal".

I think the black wheels are SiC, white AO. They may do mostly fine grits. For honing and such. The big black SiC well is definitely coarse. SiC wheels are costly. The SiC wheels I found in the junkyard were 5" X 1" and 5" X 1.5". Strange size. Look exactly like the two in the photo including hole size. Is their dumpster accessible ? Heck yea, I'd be head first in it. Cause $400/30 gallons is a rip. Coarse grinding wheel AO is crap grade.

Funny, not sure if their dumpsters are accessible.
