Yes, Paul spent a lot of time digging in central Oregon before he became the "Geode Kid." Somewhere I have a few pieces he dug around here and sold to local shops (Secret Ridge thundereggs and Twickenham angel wing). He was as exotic a sight in towns like Prineville and Burns during the 1960s as would have been any green-skinned alien from another planet. Not many long-haired "hippie" types ventured through those parts, but he could dig faster than a gopher, and so did fit in with the local diggers, cutters and shop owners. It is the Secret Ridge thundereggs,I speak of...Great story.... Care to share the story?

It would be awesome to own a thunderegg found by the Geode Kid.......A treasure for sure... I used to have a small pile of Secret Ridge and Queen's Point he dug, but I think I sold the last few uncut last year. I still have 4 or 5 polished Secret Ridge halves and a QP somewhere. I have this photo of a Secret Ridge sitting on my computer: I had fun going through old boxes of the Twickenham angel wing several years ago when Elkins closed up (Paul had sold it to Hoot) - found them all fascinating and picked out several favorites, including this bigger chunk: Paul cleaned out the pocket of this material down along the John Day river - haven't heard of any finds since - and the forms were astounding. Some looked exactly like bird (or presumably angel) wings, others had really delicate (and sometimes contorted and drips going at crazy angles) drip formations. Made one wonder how they formed.

There are a LOT of Geode Kid eggs out there. He dug and sold many thousands of them!
