I'm still stuck on the 7 Freaken mile hike!!! I'd had to stop for the night to rest and bring a carton of cigs jeeeze Great job taking us all along on yalls journey Thank You!!!!! If it's any consolation I'm still paying for it LOL. ouch ouch ouch. A few years ago we used to do harder hikes than this with regularity - I crashed on my mountain bike and broke my collarbone/surgery in 2013 - then last year stepped in a hole and broke my ankle - again surgery ... Now I just hobble around and dream about the old times LOL. Downhills are the worst, mentally and physically.

Actual mileage was... 1404 And the winner is... oregon with the closest guess without going over - 1389 congratulations PM me your address and I'll send out the prize box. Closest overall guess was spiceman at 1410 So close but just over the line. I have your address already so I'm going to send out a small consolation prize to you as well.

Is your son getting marred, or married? Or both? Lol. Freudian slip? She's a wonderful girl and he's such an awesome young man - I have no doubt they will be awesome. I just worry in general about young people trying to make a go of it in today's society.

Hey, Thanks,
I'll call it home field advantage - know most of the sights in your post which made me want to head over the hills... We had similar results at Hampton butte, Wegner Canyon for a trip last summer. Always fun roaming around out in eastern Oregon. Rented one of the cabins down at the cove a few years back in off season and we were the only persons down there can you imagine that usually a zoo in the summer.
Supposed to be cloudy/rainy for the eclipse over there, so tell everyone to stay away!
Cheers Rick

Thanks Tommy for the nice box of eggs. Always fun to cut! Yellow lighting courtesy of all the fire smoke here this morning >100 degree temps were too much to dig in eastern Oregon, so this was a pleasant surprise to come home to!

Yes, that's the "Cinder Butte" fire just east of Glass Buttes. It may head over the hills into that area if an east wind picks up. Started yesterday afternoon and is now almost 60,000 acres. There are a couple of roads/fire lines between Glass Buttes and the fire, and they are now trying to control its spread toward highways, but in that sagebrush area they may not put a ton of effort into putting it out. On the south end, it is near Wagontire, and hopefully it will spare the "International Airport" there. (not my photo)
