OK, this post is actually to show off some material that Fossilman Michael was kind enough to share with me AND to enter the contest. The cab I am entering is not mine, but I did cab it. It is a slice of ammonite. I got a couple to play with in exchange for me cabbing this one for him. I did one of mine first - as a test piece. The following picture is not in the contest-  That went pretty easy.... moving along to my entry now. Lots of pictures. First is Fossilman's image of the slice before I cabbed it. Then both inside and outside images. It finished out at 61mm long. I think this is awesome stuff with great potential and easy to cab. It polished very well. There are some pits and such, not bad, though. I left a few blemishes on this one- not that you can see them with so much going on. IMG 0329: That cab is just bad to the bone! I have never worn a pendant/necklace in my life - and I don't see (or make) very many cabs I would consider wearing but that is one. Nice job Tela - congrats Michael. |

So I was gifted a ammonite that is split down the middle and broken into 3 pieces. It is big. So how did you slab it? Cross section?
