I was wondering if this is a new material or rare and hard to find? Named after the Texas Blue bonnet. This little slab just sold for 142 bucks on ebay. 40 x 30 cab if that.

To me, it looks like dumortierite in quartz, cut across the needles. Interesting effect.

Similar to portions of a couple of the Bouquet Agates from Singleton Ranch I have cut, color is not quite what I have but close. Most Singleton Bouquet has at least a couple of colors.

Wow, that's pretty. Blue plume -- who of thunk it? Little too rich for my blood, though.

Just did a little search on it. Supposedly comes from south of Marfa. Guess the blue color is probably hard to come by.

Yeah, Hugh Leiper mentions and shows pics of that plume variety in his "Agates of North America" book from 1966. He lists Marfa as the location also. he says the variety is rare and weathers from the Mitchell Rhyolite Formation east and south of Marfa. Though I sure didn't find any when I hunted there *L*....Mel

Interesting and beautiful. I've never heard of it either. I don't have pockets that deep so think I'll just enjoy the pictures.

My guess the price is pretty much in tune with how rare it is. Wish I had some. Thanks!

The piece shown is very similar to material I collected with Paul Wofford back in the 60's/70's in the Marfa area. This color is very hard to find but also beautiful.
