Here are a few of my favorite cabs that my husband Kelly has been making- just this week! Dryhead Agate (has softer spots that did not take a polish) Gorgeous plumes in this! Wish I knew the "provenance" of this stuff! We bought the slab from an old lapidary who did not know where it comes from, but beautiful material!

That first one is a knock out. Might be dryhead agate or teepee canyon agate.

I agree, they are very nice indeed. The last piece reminds me of some of the opal fluorite (aka, bertrandite) from Utah.

Nice work! I can see why you're proud. That last material really is nice, but I don't think I've seen it before. Was it super soft?

I agree, they are very nice indeed. The last piece reminds me of some of the opal fluorite (aka, bertrandite) from Utah. Just noticed the mention of Utah, maybe Spor Mountain......?........My son lives in Riverton, we visit every couple of months and hunt, fish and rockhound......Spor Mtn. is mentioned quite often. Couple of questions if I may....if you have been there or other similar locations...: How much of that region is public land......understand it is privately mined in many locations.....? Are the few creeks in the area accessible to hiking.....? What major hwy's (6) & (93) can get you into the area....? Other than the most popular Southern Utah desert locations......have you found locations in or around North/Central, or Toolele, north Salt Lake areas, where decent mineral deposits can be accessed......? Thanks....!

Great cabs. In Utah all you have to do is get off off Hwy 15, East or West hit some back roads and go on a Walk About. If it’s private it’s posted. I Love Me some Utah!

Wow! As always, this is the nicest bunch I've ever "met"! So encouraging. And rockjunquie, Kelly says that the "unknown" material is definitely agate so, not soft at all. Interesting to note from a Utahan that this stuff might come from there. I sure don't know. Side note: in my spare time I help a couple of very serious and knowledgeable "rock people" sell their stuff online (ddrockshop.com). And neither of them was familiar with this agate either. (They sell Bull Canyon, Agua Nueva, Roostertail and myriad others). All I know is I'd like more of it!
