...rocks yet? I am wanting badly to be tumbling, but everything is packed in the cellar, I am under strict weight (carrying) restrictions right now, and i hate to ask my parents to get the stuff out for me and carry it all up the stairs.

Started back in February and they are still rolling. Hard, with lots of pits and cracks in them.

When do you turn them in and is it too late to get some to join in?

It's the dam holes and cracks that keep appearing.

Just to clarify - when I receive rough, I can grind out small flaws on a wheel. I can not use a saw to cut pieces however correct? large fractures etc...
I can remove small flaws initially, then tumble but not touch them again. Yes?
Thanks

Dag these things are hard! I'll give them another couple weeks and then I'm going to have to figure out how to use The Eagle to finish them. The Eagle is my weirdo vibe tumbler.

Mine have been tumbling since Feb. Just moved them to 220 grit last seek. And rocks are just so ugly the left overs will probably end up in the driveway. Les

I add fresh grit every few days, which seems to hurry things along a bit... relatively speaking. ooh, I thought they were pretty! Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. The Eagle is a Gy-roc. I think I have all the parts I need to get it working now. (I should have named it Audrey since the 3LB Lortone is Seymour.) FEEED ME, Seymour!

OMG you said the words of one of the movies I hated as a kid. Now that dam song will be in my head I do think the agates are pretty, almost like little planets. They are just frustrating as all hell with the pits and fractures.

Allrighty everyone we are down to the last two weeks. I didn't start mine rolling when I should have-June was a little late to the party. My only saving grace is I rough tumble and vibe finish. This is the first time I've tried the competition so I am stressing. I can imagine that every year the material poses its own unique challenges. But this stuff seems to be so full of pits that just when I think I have a clean set to move on, I find new pits opening up. I've managed to take about 10 pieces to the vibe on Sunday, and the first one I pulled out to check this morning had a new pit that opened up. I won't clean this first 48 hour vibe run of 120/220 until this afternoon when I get out of work, but after what I saw this morning, I don't have high hopes. What about the rest of you? Mine have been setting on the kitchen counter for about a week waiting to be mailed. I just need to take five minutes to box them up. None of mine are perfect, they all have some little pits. If someone offered me a box of this stuff for free, I’d turn them down.
