I was doing a search to find out what people do with their rocks after they tumble them and found this thread! I absolutely love the things you've created with this process so much so that I went ahead and ordered the gear to do it myself!
Being a science freak of sorts, this kind of thing is right up my alley. I'm actually thinking about getting my friends involved just to see what we can come up with.
Can't wait to see your next piece!

I only have a small tank so I have been reluctant to make my own. Easier for me to buy a bottle when I need it

My tank will be about 4 quarts (it's a food container I had something like this) I'm only going to make about a gallon of solution at a time, this way I can store it in that container as I have a lid for it. I also am planning on making my own graphite paint. I ordered the graphite powder and bought some acrylic paint today at Michaels. Hopefully this will all work and my quest to save a few bucks won't be a waste of money.

A good book that covers everything about this is one of the "Jewellery Handbook" series called "Electroforming" by Leslie Curtis, published by A & C Black London. It's an English book and is reasonably cheap but very thorough.

Are you making your own paint from Jason Welsh's recipe? I was watching some of his videos today. Some day I really want to try this.

I've got the power supply and the book to tell me how to do it, It sure looks like I am going to have to give it a go. Loving what you are doing Ali.
As far as conductive paint goes I wonder how Cold Galvanising spray would perform, It's zinc rich so should conduct electricity as good as Graphite. Same thought goes for ordinary old silver paint, which is Aluminium. Fwiw the book only talks about Graphite.

The paint dries pretty fast Not sure if he is just adding more distilled water or he might be using a thinner acrylic paint. I'm going to do a leaf, so I'll see how detailed it comes out with my mix and post the results
