Where can I find nice quality cab "holders" (don't know proper term) for my standard sized cabs. Wanting something simple to just go around the girdle/edge of the cab holding it in but nothing covering the face of the cabs. I see some in pics on line but not sure where to buy them. Thank you

Are you looking for settings? For rings/pendants? There are a number of places, depending on the quality and type of metals you are looking for. Rio Grande has higher quality. Gem Mountain has some plated/base metals and some sterling. There are others, too.

Lots of places have supplies for settings. Rio Grande is a simple one with good variety. There are types that you can use simply with glue or bending some prongs or even screwing a piece to a backing. I am learning wire wrapping at the moment, and will probably do some silversmithing in a while also. All these are options to work with. Heck even drilling a hole into a cab can make it settable with either putting a cord on it or a pinch bail. Plenty of choices to keep a person busy.

Seconding the recommendation for Fire Mountain Gems and Rio Grande. Rings & Things and Shipwreck Beads also tend to have a good selection, but they tend to vary somewhat based on the season. A lot of the stuff they have is the Tierracast findings and settings, with some JLB(?) ones. If you see a brand you like, it can be worth googling the finding company to see various sites selling their lines, since some companies don't pick up all of the options. If you do a large number of pieces at a uniform shape and size, there are some places overseas that can be worth ordering from, but shipping's a killer; most of them have a presence on ebay. 8seasons, in China, has a good selection and their staff is very nice, but the quality of some items can be spotty. They sometimes have some unusual and interesting stuff I don't see elsewhere, though, so we have ordered from them a couple of times over the past decade or so, but we tend to save up for a big order when we do. They do have an ebay store, so it's worth browsing there to get an idea of the kinds of things they stock. We prefer to buy things from the US or Canada if we can, but like I said, they sometimes have things we can't find anywhere else, and they're great for things like chain or basic findings in bulk in finishes that can be tricky or expensive to track down otherwise. If you like using brass filigree settings (a filigree piece you can bend around the cab as needed) that are high quality and made in the US, there's also www.guyotbrothers.com/ -- they have some really beautiful pieces. They are raw brass, though, so you may want to finish them somehow. (I like things I can hit with a patina, so it's ideal for that.)
