I love green olives. I've been on a kick lately with stuffed green queen olives. DH and I were talking and trying to decide if they are bitter or sour- or something else. They definitely have a unique taste. What do you think? Bitter, sour or something else?

I would say they have a salty/nutty flavor. Love them! But with a twist.
We buy the mammoth green olives, either these -
Or whatever else Costco has to sell.
Then we remove the pimientos from the olives, and open a can of these (Walmart sells them) -
I have a can of each of these sitting on my counter, waiting for me to find the time to co-mingle them.
Pour out the jalapeno juice and save it. Slice the jalapenos open lengthwise, and remove the seeds. Cut into 1/4 to 3/8 inch wide strips, and stuff the olives with them folding the jalapeno in half as you stuff them in. Put the stuffed olives back into the jar. Pour the juice over the stuffed olives, put the lid back on, and put them into the refrigerator for a few days, shaking them up whenever you think about it, to let the flavors meld. Mmm, mmm good!
I realize that some olives can be purchased stuffed with jalapenos, Costco eve has them sometimes. But the home stuffed ones in jalapeno juice are the best!

Used to despise them, except as maybe an extra to munch on in a martini. Years ago, Costco sold big jars of pistachio-stuffed big olives, which I adored. Like so many things, they disappeared off the shelves a year or so later On the other hand, I've liked Greek olives ever since I first tasted - no break-in period required. Perfect in dishes that include feta cheese, as they don't overwhelm each other. I'm starting to get hungry!

I KNOW what you mean, mohs! That stuff is delish! Actually, if you are fortunate enough, you can get the Herdez Jalapenos "Whole in Escabeche." Which means with pickled carrots and onions. That is what the can I have is, just couldn't find an image of such online. It is produced in Mexico, and distributed by Megamex Foods, in Orange, CA. Uh oh, the label on the can says, "Partially produced with Genetic Engineering." I better quit reading labels now, lol.
Or, you can get Mrs. Klein's So Hot Mix and get the cauliflower, too. One way to eat your veggies.
