Looking at Kingsley North and the like for the best quality premade Stainless Grinding/polishing setup. I have a 6" wheel set so just looking for the machine. Want it to have a water drip system for each wheel too. Not wanting to make my own. Saw some threads on this comparing Lortones, Chinese stuff and cabkings & genies but those posts were 5 plus years old. Just weighing options of refurb and fitting existing machines vs getting a new one and using my wheels. Thank you all for any input.

The starting point is whether you prefer a drip or recirculating water system. I prefer recirculating and I don't have any contamination issues. Others prefer drip because of their concern over contamination.
I've had a Genie for 16 years and plastic parts; hoods and trays have held up well. It's easy to change wheels and put on polishing pads. Mine needs to be fixed, but I am still using it. The left side wheels can't be removed and so I can't replace the broken belt for the pump. At some point I will make another attempt at removing the wheels and repairing the pump. The pump also needs to be oiled regularly. I do the first 5 grits on my stardiamond machine. It had a drip system which no longer worked because I moved the wheels. It was configured for 2 and I have 5 and could probably add another if I removed a partition. I bashed a hole in the front so I could use my genie trays and I use two aquarium pumps with three spray heads. When I use my Genie I use the aquarium pumps.
The minimal configuration for me would be an arbor with easily removeable wheels and being able to use water recycled from trays. I also prefer an 8" wheel because of a larger surface on the soft wheels and faster cutting time. They are moer expensive but will cut more cabs.

Why can't you remove your left side wheels? If they put them on you should be able to remove. If I remember they are on a shaft adapter like the right side but everything will turn opposite way. If you unscrew the outer nut you should be able to slide the wheels off anyway. You would need a flat wrench to hold the end of shaft adapter.

I've got my eye on the lortone 6" stainless steel setup, myself. would probably outfit it with Nova wheels. The recirculating water pump in my diamond pacific pixie has been nothing but a nightmare to clean and maintain. Drip is the way to go IMO.

At one point they came off. What happens on the right side effects the left side. When I remove the wheels on the right side, I simply hold the left side wheels and spin off the right side. When I try to remove the left side wheels, I hold the right side wheels and rotate the left side wheels clockwise and they don't move. When I try turning the left side nut clockwise, nothing happens. When I bought my Genie they had a deal where the trim saw attachment was only $35. I use it a lot and like it. Weird stuff does happen to the left side when I use the saw on the right side. The left side nut unscrews. I am guessing that the saw bound and that caused the left side nut to over tighten. I bought a pair of vice grips to hold the shaft when I turn the left side nut clockwise. I have seen posts here about other people having difficulty getting the left side off. The left side wheels have a lot of life left and are not used very much.

I think the price is about $1700, and this is an 8" machine with lots of space between wheels. The soft wheels are 2" wide instead of the standard 1.5". It has a 2 speed motor. Their site is pretty low-key. They don't say much about the machine. I guess they want you to call them & get details. There are authorized resellers on some rock related facebook groups. The name Vince Allred comes to mind. Lynn

stardiamond : Left-hand adapter freezing on the shaft is a common Genie problem. That's why DP recommends removing both adapters fairly often and oiling the shaft lightly with a lightweight oil. If you want to remove the left shaft adapter as a unit first remove the right-side adapter then hold the right-hand shaft with vise grips or channel locks with the jaws cushioned by heavy cloth or leather. Both adapters are removed by turning them the same direction they turn while running. Any marring or burs on the shaft left by pliers should be smoothed out with a fine file or sandpaper while the motor's running taking care not to leave any flat spots, then oiling. As for removing left side hard wheels individually remember that the left side adapter nut has left-hand threads, so will turn counter-clockwise.

I didn't have any vice grips and the channel locks did not hold and the shaft got scratched. I smoothed them out with emery cloth. That was two or more years ago. I bought some vice grips but the urgency isn't there. The trim saw attachment doesn't use the pump and I spend 10-15 minutes on the Genie polishing a set of cabs.

Not intending to cause this side topic to hijack the main topic, but I have had problems with adapter freeze-up with my Pixie. I tried lithium grease on the mating surfaces and that seemed to help for a while, but eventually the adapter would freeze. To solve that, I cut a washer from a flexible plastic container. The washer with a little lithium grease on both sides goes on first, followed by the adapter. This has completely eliminated the problem.

Good idea. When I get around to un freezing my genie, I will give it a try. It provides a little cushion.

If I were cutting a washer again I would cut it from Teflon sheet. ePastics (https://www.eplastics.com/sheets/ptfe) sells PTFE sheet as small as 12"x12" or custom cut.

The EZ Cab is a good buy, all stainless construction and has a drip system made out of a 5 gallon bucket. They do use chinese wheels and occasionally have problems with shipping damage but other than that its a good buy. I am a dealer for them also so if you want a discount let me know.
