Tommy - I wonder if the first one is a variation or Rhodonite. Lynn

Maybe something metamorphic, such as a mylonite (with feldspar clasts) for the first.
I agree that the second looks like cinnabar. If the white is opal, then perhaps myrickite (still, with a lot of cinnabar).

First one also looks like it contains feldspar. Yes, second one has some cinnabar in it.

Tommy - I wonder if the first one is a variation or Rhodonite. Thanks Lynn, it's definitely possible although I see a lot of Rhodonite around here and I've never seen this type of pattern. The color is much more salmon than pink too.

Very pretty, but better for the specimen shelf than jewelry.

Damn- too bad you can't cab it. It's gorgeous.... but can you seal it and cab it?

Damn- too bad you can't cab it. It's gorgeous.... but can you seal it and cab it? It's possible. I have one decent size slab that didn't fall apart and I do plan on putting it aside until I get some Opticon - or the stuff zarguy uses. Might take me a while to get around to it though.

I can't think of many better uses for a sealer than this. Let us know if/when you do it.

The first one looks like the stuff I found in Kokoweef. Some of it also contains epidote making it appear to be some form of unakite with larger crystal structure.

I was thinking unakite, too, with that salmon color, but the rest doesn't seem right.

Here is a cab from the material I found in the Kokoweef area years ago: DSC_0743 by James Sloane, on Flickr

I was thinking unakite, too, with that salmon color, but the rest doesn't seem right. It is missing the green epidote. But the pink does look like the orthoclase of unakite.
