If you want to study Triassic Rocks, UT-24 is a fantastic place to look. Often photographed is the "Castle" just northwest of Fruita. The Triassic rocks are just below it. Where? If you get on I-15, turn east on I-70 to Richfield, Sigurd, and get on UT-24 headed east to Loa, Bicknell, and Torry. Next stop is the Capitol Reef Visitor's Center and Fruita. All going through magnificent geology! The Castle first comes into view as you come around the next to last curve before reaching Fruita. parking is a problem, but you are driving on RED Moenkopi rocks! The Chinle (Painted Desert) is obvious. Ahead is the green of Fruita and the "Water Pocket Fold." the 24 on the road above and below are at a wide place in the road where you can pull over to fix your flat tire. Rather study Permian Rocks instead? just head south to lower ground.
