Does anyone use one of the Tagit cab holder? If so, would appreciate your comments. It looks like an easy way to make preformed and shaped cabs, prior to tumbling. The mechanism would reduce the chances of injuries. littleredstore.com/automatic-cabochon-machine/

I have one, I picked it up from an estate sale years ago, Really I thought it looked like more trouble than it was worth.
I also have a Graves cab preformer, I thought I would give that a go as I need several perfectly round 25mm cabs. It took me a full day to set it up and get it working and I am very underwhelmed.
It's funny that you asked this question because I found the Tagit again a couple of days ago when I was looking for the Graves things and thought of asking about it.

All I am looking for is something that could hold a cab and let me use Dremel for shaping. Currently have Dremel in vice and holding cab by hand. Have the water drip system set up, but am concerned about possible water getting into bad parts of Dremel. Feel this might let me secure Dremel further away from water and let me hold the cab in something. Just getting tired of having the cab fly away or grinding my fingers. Tried using a dop stick, but it did not give enough control.

Buy a flex shaft for the Dremel to keep water away from it. Then glue the cab onto something that gives you access for grinding with the handpiece.

I tried a dopping stick, but just did not give enough control. I need something larger.

The Tagit (now owned by others) just swivels in an adjustable arc to help make domes. Unless you have a fairly large wheel and the Dremel is in a holder it won't be any help to you. Why don't you dop the stones to a board so they don't move or dop to a large dop stick and put dop stick in a jeweler's vise.

I bought a stand for my Dremel so the machine was stationary and I could move the rock. Seemed easier to me but I was more used to cabbing on wheels. This is when using wheels for shaping, not burs for carving.

I just purchased one from Steve Hart Lil Red Store and I have the Manual if you need it PM me and I will E-Mail it to you. Steve is in the process of making a Stand that goes on the King Cab and others. My hands are big and I grind the Hyde of of me so thought I would give it a Whirl. He says that he has Customers who's production of Cabs went from 10 per day to easily over 30 per day. I have made a couple cabs and jeesh to me its not easy Of course i'm Prolly a Klutz and need more Finesse and practice.

I just bought the Tagit cab holder out of curiosity. $2.00. Their website down for a few days. I prefer using my hands without a dop, but want to check it out.
