Oops, forgot to mention the type of rock for my entry. All I can say is some type of agate with crystal pockets.

I love winter! At least I do here in southern Arizona where ice and snow can be found in stone! We found this chunk of 'I dunno' with agate in an estate box. The agate is the expected hardness for agate and the 'I dunno' is a lot softer, making it a challenge to work together. The 'I dunno' reminded me of ice. I didn't notice the sparkles in the ice until I was working at 1200 grit. the slab the plan the cab the cab on a different background--trying to capture the sparkles

Great entries this month. I didn't really have much that suggested Winter to me but I ran across this slab of Nyssa, OR plume that reminded me a little of either snowdrifts or winter clouds. But most of the white "puffs" ground away while I was shaping the cab and I could see they were mostly on the surface of the slab. Oh well. Anyhow since I cut the stone I'd just as well enter. I forgot to shoot an image of the rough before trim-sawing so this image shows the slab and the preform to 220 grit. Preform and Slab: Finished Cab:

Well still recovering from the sold I had since last week, I may have to sit this one out... just means I'll have to finish the cab when I get better hopefully on the weekend. Will still post even if it isn't going to be in voting

gemfeller, that looks like snow in Bryce Canyon. Makes me nostalgic for the time there was fog/mist/cloud there one time that I saw.

OK. I went with standard winter colors. Here is my contribution: Sowbelly Agate by Stephan Telm, on Flickr The background really influenced the color balance. The final product is true to color. Clearly, I changed my mind from what I drew, and put the broad part of the triangle at the translucent portion. Also, the pattern changed quickly as I domed. thanks but for future please don't combine photos

thanks but for future please don't combine photos Sorry. I figured you were cropping and residing. Won't happen again. the forms used to have a feature that allowed resizing just as you would in Microsoft word. It appears to no longer do that! I'm blaming Tommy Speaking of tommy you have a special message in your inbox that you will want
