good stuff so I went to you tube
I like it when the narrator says: A meteor the size of the Hiwatha Impact Is unlikely to occur in our time
But evidence of finding this crater Is proof we shouldn’t let our guard down Ha

I think it is time for some bore hole samples to add more data.

Vegasjames, when oil or gas wells are being dug the drilling company will change the drill bit to a core bit to collect samples for where the seismic data and mud/gas inspection from the hole indicate the possibility of hydrocarbons. When I taught science in Sonora, Tx. my students would bring in bore sample cylinders from wells that were being dug for the geology section. The process is nothing more than a procedure for direct data collection.

if I was younger James I might have gotten the terminology correct \According to wiki In Biology Dryas refers to a certain Flower There is also a type of monkey called a Dryas in the Congo In Greek language Dryas may mean- Oak There were even several mythological characters in their Myths called Dryas In geology Dryas are designation for climatic periods Some of those periods include: Old Dryas Older Dryas Middle Dryas Young Dryas The Dryas Impact Theory postulates That around 12,000 years ago there was a meteor strike in the northern hemisphere during one these Dryas Periods which caused the extinction of much of North America’s Mega fauna . Finding that impact crater, as been one of the proofs geologist’s have searched for to verify the theory. Perhaps the Hiawatha Crater is just this proof? So recovering more data is a goal Although as we know precise dating of past things is very contentious…
