Started a freeform oval on this piece of flint last night. To me it seemed like having the oval horizontal instead of vertical is the best way to have the pattern. Do you people who wrap do horizontal ovals, or are they mostly preferred to be vertical? Alternatively, if someone has a better idea on how I can use this piece I would gladly accept any advice... Still trying to learn! Thanks for looking.

I've done wraps with stones that I've cut landscape to preserve a scene in the stone. They can also be bezel set with no problem. Go for it!

Capture the scene. Let the person who falls in love with it decide what they want to do.

I turned my laptop sideways. To my eye, it also looks pretty good vertical. ;-)

Just a progress pic for anyone interested. I finally got rid of the flat spot on top, I think- now a little more work on a few little pits, some more grinding for the overall shape and I think it will be ready to tumble. I love the design on this piece, I'm hoping it turns out. Thanks for looking.

There are a lot of picture jaspers that get cabbed horizontally to capture the "landscape" or "oceanscape". So all cabs don't need to be done vertically.
