Isn't this a pretty peach color! Has anyone worked with it before? The seller described it as a bit brittle. As always, design input welcome, I can't decide on the shape. It's 9mm thick.

Also just called barite. Very soft, doesn't usually polish well.

Yes I have some of that somewhere. As Tela said it also goes by English Barite which is how I bought it and have sold a couple of cabs from it. It's interesting stuff, but I did not find it to be brittle. It's heavy for its size and it takes kind of a medium high fibrous shine with orange peeling.

I never really got orange peel in mine, but the fibers seemed to want to separate. I wouldn't call it brittle, either. I didn't like it enough to cab the rest of it. The polish was dependent on which part of the slab it was. I had one do alright, the rest were ho hum.

I've seen this on other materials too. After a couple of attempts to make a happy place with it I gave up and tossed it in a drawer somewhere.
