I've been in such a rut with my cabs lately...everything has been small and round. Today I wanted to remind myself that there are other shapes and sizes to cut. So, here's what I came up with. Fun story too about the slab...I was driving home from work on Friday and there was a large sign in a yard that said "gem and mineral sale". So I stopped in and picked up several slabs from a very nice retired gentleman. This dendritic opal slab was one of them. I really liked the color!  |

Nice color and nice cutting, too!
Maybe it's just a reflection, but that bright spot near the top splits that dendrite in two. That effect sort of suggests the eyes of a mustached and goateed fellow who might be snoozing.
