I sold another MH cabochon and before shipping I decided to take a better picture and send it to the buyer. The picture showed a 1mm fracture near the tip and then either a healed or partially healed continuation of the fracture running roughly parallel to the edge. I offered a refund, credit or replacement, but the buyer wants the cab fixed and is willing to wait. My left thumb is hurting. It wasn't injured and I'll see the doctor on Friday. I marked the back of the cab for the recut.
What is going to happen is I'll make a few passes on the wheel and my wife will review the shape. She has a very critical eye and will have me keep making adjustments until it is perfect. She use to do that all the time when I was starting out. The Blue Biggs I posted on the general rocks board has one side slightly higher on the right than the left. It was cut over 10 years ago and put in a display box. She had me deactivate the listing so I could make it perfect.

Pictures will show imperfections like nothing else. Sometimes they don't though. The VERY FIRST stone I sold had a minuscule fracture, I couldn't see it and it wasn't in the picture. But, the client saw it and he wasn't too happy. He was very good about it and oddly enough we are pretty good friends now.

LOL I agree, it is surprising what you can see in a good photo. I take a lot of video and usually see something during editing I had completely missed in person. If I post the video on Youtube, others usually pick up on it too.

Good on you for being upfront about it.
