I had my saw set up and decided to cuts some preforms. My thumb started acting up before I could finish the shapes. No point pushing it.

Those will be some knock out cabs! A wise man knows his limits. Take care of your thumb and it will take care of you.

You sure do have some great material, can't wait to see the finished product. Al I buy slabs and small rough very rarely now. I looked at my ebay feedback to find the seller I bought Morgan Hill on auction from. I saw an unfathomable number of lapidary auction purchases. I've either sold off or converted to cabs a lot of it. Those were the good old days when there was a lot of good material on auction. Most of the stuff now is buy it now and the selection isn't even close. I bought a lot of Morgan Hill from a seller called philosphersstone. He is still on ebay but is selling the local material that hookedonrocks finds. I used up almost all of the MH, but hadn't done much with the Guadalupe or Hornitos. I don't have a lot but I will be able to cut some cabs.

I got the 3 preforms completed, marked the girdles and dopped. My thumb isn't going to get better. I'm at an age where arthritis is a factor, but recently it became a factor in cabbing. All I can do is manage it by working in shorter sessions. Slabs typically have scenes and only part of the area can be used. I cut the three preforms from the same area with saw lines as close to the shapes that I felt comfortable with. There was a remaining scrap where I didn't know if there were enough poppies to make a decent cab. I cut a rough freeform and did a little work on the 80 and it is worth working on later.

I finished the scrap today. This is an example of serendipity. I created a shape with no scene and got a scene.

Holy Guacamole, them doritos is some good chips... My Thumbs are also beginning to remind me of my age, CBD cream and arnica infused cream have been helpful, can't tell which is better except the CBD seems to work faster but the arnica lasts longer.

Continuing with serendipity. The cab came off the dop on the final step which is an old 100k pad which I use to remove the polishing compound from the new 100k and the cab wasn't damaged. No superglue to remove. I good a good picture on the first attempt.

Beautiful material and cabs. I especially love the little scrap that could I bought a lot of Morgan Hill from a seller called philosphersstone. He is still on ebay but is selling the local material that hookedonrocks finds. You probably already know this but philosphersstone is hookedonrocks' buddy Martin - he's a prolific rockhound and finder of amazing material - one of those guy's you'd like to attach a GPS tracking device to. He mostly sells on Facebook on the Cabs and Slabs - Slab Depot group.
