I was in the Army at Fort Eustis Va. Not bad in the winter but did not like the humidity in the summer at all. The first time for training we were in old wooden barracks without AC. terrible. Second duty there was in large concrete barracks and had semi private room. roommate and I installed a window AC. It was real nice. Western Oregon is much better. this morning at 10 it is 65.3 degrees out. might get to 80 this afternoon. Fort Eustis isn't far from here. Been to the transportation museum there a few times. Whenever I go to Jamestown/Williamsburg/Yorktown I always wondered how they could stand it back in the day.

OMG- it is so hot in here. I don't feel like doing a thing. I think we'll be getting that AC sooner than later. I'm too old for this and my damn feet are swelling in the high heat and humidity. Ugh.
DH is working Saturdays right now and on Sunday, he takes care of his uncle and mother. I don't know when we'll find the time to do it, but it needs to be done ASAP or take the time off work. Send me chilled thoughts, y'all Put several damp towels in the refrigerator asap. Keep one wrapped around your neck. If you get the chance, get some of the gel-filled cooling neck wraps (they hold the chill longer). Heat stress is a serious danger, so take care of yourself!

I'd rather roast than steam... I love heat and summer- I'd go out hounding today if I could. 😎

I have an air conditioned bedroom, so I take breaks in there. I have never been one to have a tv or anything in my room, so I just lay down and elevate my feet. I'll be ok until we get the ac in- just not happy or comfortable about it. Ice water is my friend... and I'll try some cool towels, too.

I remember when I lived in FL. It was like a steam bath and I loved it! Not so much anymore....

The most overused saying (even though there is a lot of truth to it) in these parts during the summer: "it's not the heat, it's the humidity". Unfortunately it is a rarity around here to get any heat without a gross amount of humidity. I've spent a considerable amount of time in the southwest and really enjoy it there, though 110 degrees is frickin' hot no matter how you slice it. Al

The sun is killer today, all over the country...
Southern California has it the worst but here in Southern Kentucky it's not so bad... still very muggy and humid and sticky...

It's 94 in my garage, and humid. No ventilation as all the doors face north and any breeze this time of year is from the southeast. I usually spend 2 or 3 hours a day in that heat. Don't run a fan as I don't have the spare electric. Three tumblers running and alternating between the 10 inch and the 24 inch saws. A lot of heat from those motors.
Builds character!!

I used to love the heat. I had a lot of character. Seriously, I spent so many years in Florida, I'm used to the heat, but I really can't handle it like I used to could.

I am out in the yard cutting the grass, or in the garden and never see any of my neighbors. I know they think I am a bit off. It's kind of sad to not see kids out playing in the Summer, we were out from sunrise to sunset, bikes, baseball, any all sorts of activities.

I know that you have been changing that Air Filter ? ? ? If you were talking to me- yes. There is a light that comes on when you are supposed to clean and we always did. It was just a really crappy AC from day one. It was the absolute loudest I have ever heard, too. It was terrible. We had to turn it off if we wanted to watch tv.

What's worse than temps in the 90's or even 100's?? Temps below 0! Keep it hot, baby! I turn on the AC maybe 5 days per year.
